The TVƵ has been named one of the “Best Universities” in the North by U.S. News and World Report, rising three spots from last year’s ranking in the Best Regional Universities category for the North in “America’s Best Colleges” listings.

U.S. News & World Report uses a broad range of indicators to determine its ratings, including assessment by administrators at peer institutions; retention and graduation rates; faculty resources, which takes into account class size, faculty salary, student-faculty ratio, proportion of faculty who have obtained the highest degree in their field and the proportion of faculty who are full time; financial resources; student selectivity, which considers acceptance rate, admissions test scores (such as the SAT or ACT) and the percentage of freshmen who graduated in the top quarter of their high school class; and alumni giving rates.

TVƵ President Danielle Ripich stated that “TVƵ’s rank among the top universities in the northern United States by U.S. News & World Report demonstrates the excellence and dedication of the university’s faculty, the high caliber of students it attracts and the growing recognition of TVƵ as an upper-tier institution of higher education.”

That recognition is, indeed, on the rise, as the announcement of TVƵ’s grade in the U.S. News & World Report listing was preceded in August by the university’s inclusion in the Princeton Review’s Best 381 Colleges and in July by its appearance in both Forbes’ list of America’s Top Colleges for 2016 and MONEY magazine’s Best Colleges for Your Money.
